"My mental health hasn't always been a priority for me. I didn't get into it until around two years ago, when I first started talking to a psychologist, primarily for my on-track personal performance, Russell admitted.
"I didn't feel like this was benefiting me beyond just staying on track until those chats. I feel lighter after these sessions and better about myself. It's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
"Sometimes I walked into these meetings with not much to talk about, thinking it would only last five or ten minutes, and I was there well over an hour, and since then it has been something I have felt strongly about," the speaker continued.
The team said Palou will provide support for the F1 outfit alongside his driving duties in IndyCar, and be available as a reserve driver for all Grand Prix events that do not conflict with his IndyCar commitments, should either Lando Norris or new recruit Oscar Piastri be unavailable to drive.

The 25-year-old Spaniard previously took part in a free practice session at the 2022 United States Grand Prix with McLaren, as well as piloting the MCL35M in Barcelona and Spielberg as part of the team’s driver development testing programme.
